Why does sunspot occur?
There are many factors involved in its formation. The two most important factors are genetic predisposition and exposure to ultraviolet (invisible harmful sun rays) rays. Apart from this, pregnancy, birth control drugs, cosmetic applications, drugs and goiter are among other causes. The sun’s rays not only cause the formation of spots, but also cause an increase in spots with a darkening effect on the formed spots.
How do sunspots go away?
The doctor evaluates the layer of the skin and the degree of the spots with wood light examination, which is a special light, and according to the result, treatment options are determined together with the patient. Long-term treatment is usually required.
During pregnancy and puerperium, treatment is limited to sun protection and cream treatments suitable for this period. As general precautions, sun exposure should be avoided, cosmetic products and drugs that cause sun sensitivity should be limited. The sunscreen product recommended by your doctor should be a cream with a factor of at least 15, with both UV-A and UV-B protection, and should be used in both summer and winter.
Among the chemical peelers that are frequently used for therapeutic purposes; products containing hydroquinone, tretinoin, azelleic acid and kojic acid. The duration of treatment with these agents can take a long time when a single chemical product is used.
Chemical peeling is also effective in the treatment of the disease because with the peeling of the upper layer of the skin, the melanin pigment, which is the cause of the stain, is gradually lost.
